My family lived at 450 North Cass Street in Wabash, Indiana from 1958 to 1973. My mother always loved this house and property, so I did this painting for her 70th birthday, in December of 1998. This painting is 14 x 24 inches, watercolor on Arches cold press watercolor paper.
I did this painting as a wedding gift for my youngest brother and his wife. It was inspired by my evening commute due west into the sunset. The painting is 23 x 13 inches, watercolor on Arches cold press watercolor paper.
Below are three color studies I did for this painting. My wife liked them so much that I framed them for her.
The Japanese Iris is my wife Jane's favorite flower. I did this painting in December of 1994, another artistic Christmas gift for my lovely bride. I had photographed them when they were in season. Now we always have Irises blooming in our house.
The painting is 8 x 16 inches, watercolor on Arches cold press watercolor paper.
Daisy was a model for a Painting Techniques course I took in my last term at Cal Poly, winter of 1979. I ran out of time in class so I took it home and spent most of the night finishing it. The painting is 14 x 28 inches, acrylic paint on cold press illustration board.
I took a Figure Drawing class in the Fall of 1978. These are my best efforts. They have been on the walls of my home since I got out of college.
The first drawing is charcoal on middle value charcoal paper.
The second drawing is charcoal on kraft paper.
The last drawing was near the end of the term. The Professor had the model lay on the floor for a 40 minute pose. This drawing is 22 x 16 inches, pencil on drawing paper.
This nude was a model for a Painting Techniques course I took in my last term at Cal Poly, winter of 1979. I was running out of time in class so, I outlined the robe she was wearing thinking I would finish it at home. When I was finished with the outline, the professor and many of the other students suggested I leave it as just an outline.
The painting is 29 x 19 inches, acrylic paint and ink on acid free mat board.
